The short version

This website can use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used (pages visited, approximate location, device type), in aggregate, but it is off by default. On your first visit a small prompt asks one question, analytics on? Nothing is measured and no analytics cookies are set until you say yes, and your choice is remembered on return visits. No advertising trackers, no selling or sharing of data.

What the site actually uses

Analytics cookies (only if you consent). Until you agree, Google Consent Mode keeps analytics storage denied and nothing is set. If you accept, Google Analytics 4 (Google Ireland Ltd.) sets first-party cookies (names beginning with _ga) to distinguish visitors and sessions, used in aggregate to see which pages and articles are useful. IP addresses are processed by Google; GA4 does not log or store them. Retention is set to the minimum Google allows.

No other first-party cookies. The site does not create accounts, carts or sessions.

Third-party requests. Two external services load content when you visit: Google Fonts (typography) and GIPHY (animated images). These requests share your IP address with those providers, and their servers may apply their own cookie or logging policies. We chose renditions and endpoints that avoid tracking where possible.

Your choices

Your answer to the prompt (yes or no) is stored in your own browser and honoured on every visit; to change it, clear this site's stored data and the prompt returns. You can also opt out of Google Analytics entirely with Google's browser opt-out add-on. The website works identically either way.

If this ever changes

If we add further tools that set cookies (a video player, a booking widget), this page will list exactly what was added and why, and where consent is legally required, a consent prompt will appear before anything is set.

Managing cookies yourself

Every modern browser lets you inspect, block and delete cookies in its settings. Blocking cookies entirely will not break this website.
